PNDU is celebrating HPN Awareness Week during 10-16th October 2021. Parenteral Nutrition (PN) is the feeding of a person intravenously, bypassing the usual process of eating and digestion. The person receives nutritional liquid that contain nutrients delivered via a catheter in a vein close to the heart. Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN) describes PN administered in the home environment. This is often the only way of survival for people who have intestinal failure long term or permanently and extends the life of patients with intestinal failure. Parenteral Nutrition Down Under (PNDU) is a support group for those with intestinal failure who are dependent on parenteral nutrition to live, and their carers and clinicians. PNDU provides a network for this community, opportunities for information exchange, assists in PN research and also gives this vulnerability community a voice. During HPN Awareness Week, we invite you to connect with your friends, family and colleauges to spread awareness of this life-giving treatment.
